The Business Development Center (BDC) to Participate in Regional Forum Organized by the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) in Spain

The Business Development Center (BDC) participated in the regional forum organized by the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) on October 8th, 2018 in Barcelona, Spain.

In the framework of the 10th Anniversary of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), the forum sought to discuss the necessary exchange between key stakeholders on importance of the private sectors engagement with sustainable development efforts, and its social impact in the Euro-Mediterranean Region. The forum also discussed industry best practices and success stories’ from various UfM associated projects, under the Med4Jobs initiative.

Med4Jobs, the cross-sectoral flagship initiative of the UfM has become a regional pipeline for successful development projects. Established in 2013, Med4Jobs is comprised of an integrative approach that addresses the supply and demand sides of the labour market. The initiative targets the three core issues of employability, job intermediation, and business-enabling infrastructures. There are currently 13 UfM associated projects under this initiative.

Nayef Stetieh, President and CEO of the Business Development Center (BDC) delivered a speech about youth empowerment, and the importance of investing in youth vocational capacities; and cultivating employability that ultimately contributes to the development of local communities.

 “With all the challenges youth face in accessing the labor market, the private sector has a major role in boosting employment and opening new job opportunities for youth.”

Stetieh said, while highlighting the importance of the private sector in boosting employment opportunities for the youth.

The President and CEO also spoke in brief about BDCs contribution in designing and implementing youth programs; meeting the private sector requirements.

Within the past 14 years, BDC has successfully reached over 150000 youth.
