Another Jordanian Factory Succeeds in Exporting to the U.S. for the First Time

Orbit factory has succeeded in getting a deal to export its stone products to the U.S. for the first time for this company. Orbit is currently preparing the first shipment according to the standards and requirements of the U.S. market.

This shipment is a direct result of the SME's participation in the well known Coverings Show in Chicago, as one of the Jordanian companies that comprised the Jordanian Pavilion organized and supported by the USAID-Funded Tatweer Project in April, 2009.

The preparation of the first shipment was witnessed by USAID and Taweer Project's representatives, who have seen the products that have been especially produced for the U.S. market based on its standards and requirements.

This was followed by a field tour highlighting the factory's capabilities and equipments, especially those they have purchased lately in order to boost the factory's production capacity to able to accommodate the export, have a widened variety of products and being able to respond to market needs.

Mr. Raed Badawi, General Manager of Orbit gave a detailed presentation about the factory, how started it and grew highlighting the services he received from the USAID-funded Tatweer Project which have reflected on the factory's production, management and marketing effectively and positively.

Mr. Nayef Stetieh, President and CEO of The USAID-Funded Tatweer Project stressed on the importance of the stone and marble sector in Jordan as a vital sector with great potential.

Furthermore, he emphasized Tatweer's support of this sector and its commitment to providing its companies with the support and assistance they need to reap the benefits and opportunities this sector offers.

Orbit was established in 2003 and currently employs more than 25 employees. Orbit's export markets include Greek and the Gulf.

TATWEER is an economic development project funded by the United States Agency for International Development-USAID, and managed by the Business Development Center-BDC; with a main objective of enhancing competitiveness of Jordanian Enterprises and creating jobs, through export development and facilitating technical assistance and capacity building services.
